Overview

Erin was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 Boeing 737 MAX litigation against Boeing and other defendants. She has dedicated her career to seeking justice for those injured or killed during the course of air travel. As part of Kreindler’s aviation practice, she maintains a particular focus on the representation of passengers killed in general aviation accidents and commercial airline disasters.

Ms. Applebaum was recently appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 lawsuit against The Boeing Company and other defendants.

Erin has been selected each year since 2012 as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in the field of Aviation and Aerospace Law for the New York Metro Area. Erin is an active member of several professional groups: the American Association for Justice, in which she participates in the Aviation Section and the Women’s Trial Lawyers Caucus; the New York City Bar Association Aeronautics Committee, in which she serves as Chair of the Subcommittee on Commercial Airline Casualty; and the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), in which she sits as a Vice Chair on the Aviation and Space Law Committee.   


In 2018, Erin was selected for membership in the 2018-2019 class of the ABA TIPS Leadership Academy, a diverse group of 25 attorneys from across the nation identified as emerging leaders in the profession.

Erin also participates in a mentorship program through her alma mater advising current Brooklyn Law students who have expressed a developing interest in plaintiffs’ litigation or aviation law.

Applebaum says that by not complying with the terms of the carrier, you may open yourself up to legal action.

A passenger was boarding her flight when she slipped into an agitated, distressed state. Unattended, she was was later found outside in traffic.

Kreindler Aviation Attorney Erin Applebaum spoke with Alice Gainer of CBS New York. “As a passenger, you’re never obligated to get on a plane and you shouldn’t do something if it makes you feel unsafe, but the airline has no obligation to reimburse you for your ticket,” Applebaum said.
