What Happened
On June 4, 2023, Kreindler client Chelsea Myslik was seriously injured when a large seabird crashed through the windscreen of the Cessna 402C Businessliner airplane she was in as they were attempting to land over Charlotte Amalie, Caribbean Sea. Chelsea and her family were at the tail end of their vacation in the Caribbean aboard a Cape Air flight at the time of the birdstrike event. She has undergone multiple surgeries to treat injuries she sustained during this traumatic experience.
Airlines very rarely will admit that they did anything wrong, and most people don’t know that they have legal recourse…If you see an airline in headlines, you can be sure passengers are winning in the court of public opinion.
Kreindler partner Erin Applebaum focuses her practice on the representation of passengers injured in general aviation disasters and other incidents that occur during airplane travel. She teaches a popular CLE course for other aviation accident attorneys and has authored numerous other articles, including Worst-case Scenario: How To Survive a Plane Crash which outlines steps passengers can take to increase their safety while flying on airplanes.
