Pilot Killed in Mooney M20F Airplane Crash near Boston, Massachusetts

What Happened
On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at around 9 a.m., a Mooney M20 private airplane crashed on Sam Fonzo Drive in Beverly, Massachusetts, near the Beverly Regional Airport. According to Boston 25 News, two people were aboard the small plane. According to The Salem News, the pilot was killed in the crash and the passenger was seriously injured and transported to Beverly Hospital.
The M20 series Mooney aircraft, registry number N9573M, was manufactured in 1966 and registered to Geoffrey M. Andrews in Stoneham, Massachusetts. The M20F plane was a fixed-wing single-engine equipped with a reciprocating Lycoming IO 360 series engine.

Preliminary Investigation
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be conducting the investigation. According to media reports, the plane had just taken off from the airport, but it failed to gain altitude and crashed at 8:46 a.m., coming to rest against a utility pole and trapping Andrews and a male passenger inside.
