Gretchen M. Nelson to Become President of County Bar.

Los Angeles — The Los Angeles County Bar Association is proud to announce that Gretchen M. Nelson will become LACBA's 129th President. Ms. Nelson will be sworn in at an installation dinner on June 28, 2007 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

In addition to Ms. Nelson, President-Elect Danette Meyers of the Office of the Los Angeles District Attorney, Senior Vice-President Don Mike Anthony of Hahn & Hahn LLP, Vice President Alan Steinbrecher of the Law Offices of Alan K. Steinbrecher, Treasurer Julie Xanders of the Los Angeles Times and Assistant Vice Presidents, Anthony P. Diaz of the City Attorney's Neighborhood Prosecutor Program, John Vandevelde of Lightfoot Vandevelde Sadowsky Crouchley Rutherford & Levine LLP, and Eric Webber of Irell & Manella LLP along with the members of the Board of Trustees will all be sworn in at the installation.

Gretchen M. Nelson is a 1983 graduate of Georgetown University Law School. She received her B.A. degree from Smith College in 1976. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in January 1984. She is a past Chair of the Litigation Section of LACBA and is presently LACBA's President-Elect. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of one of LACBA's affiliate bar organizations the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles and a former president of the Cowboy Lawyers Association.

More than three years ago, Ms. Nelson accepted the invitation of Kreindler & Kreindler LLP to join the firm and assist it in opening a Los Angeles office where she is now the managing partner. The firm with offices in New York and Boston is well-known for its work representing plaintiffs in aviation accident litigation as well as for its achievements in complex tort, securities and antitrust litigation. Before joining the Kreindler firm, she practiced with Morgan, Wenzel & McNicholas for several years and then joined Corinblit & Seltzer in 1988 where she continued her legal career concentrating on complex business litigation matters with a strong emphasis on antitrust and securities class action cases. In 1998, Ms. Nelson formed her own firm to continue to litigate complex class action securities, antitrust employment and consumer cases until she joined the Kreindler firm.

Ms. Nelson has been a frequent lecturer for CAALA , the Association of Trial Lawyers, Practicing Law Institute, the National Business Institute, Mealeys, CEB and the American Bar Association.
