Kreindler & Kreindler LLP Reaches Settlement In WNBC News Chopper 4 Helicopter Crash.
Kreindler attorneys Francis G. Fleming and Michael R. Sherwin announce the recent settlement of personal injury claims related to the crash of WNBC News Chopper 4 on May 4, 2004. The helicopter, a Eurocopter AS-350BA, was destroyed when it experienced a complete loss of control while hovering, causing the helicopter to impact multiple residences in Brooklyn, New York (find description of accident at http://www.ntsb.gov). Interestingly, other news gathering helicopters were in the area during the incident and filmed live television footage of this dramatic crash.
A suit by Kreindler & Kreindler on behalf of an injured passenger against Eurocopter of France and its American affiliate, and the helicopter owner and charter operator, alleged that the helicopter lost control due to the dangerous design of the flight control system and its components, and poor maintenance and inspection of the flight control system. The suit further claimed that the crash was a part of a series of over 40 other incidents involving the Eurocopter's flight control system.
