China Air Lines Flight 611: Kreindler Settles More Than 35 Cases Arising From May 2002 Crash

Kreindler & Kreindler LLP has settled more than 35 cases arising from the crash of a Boeing 747 operating as China Air Flight 611 which went down after an in flight break-up off the coast of Taiwan in May 2002. Partners Brian Alexander and Stuart Fraenkel, with the assistance of Counsel Francis Fleming, vigorously pursued claims against both the airline and the manufacturer, Boeing, for their negligent maintenance and repairs on the accident aircraft.

Among the settlements, Kreindler obtained the largest recovery on the aircraft for a family from California. Our lawsuit proved that both Boeing and CAL had improperly repaired the tail section of the fuselage after a tail strike twenty years ago. Our discovery uncovered countless industry studies which Boeing participated in which highlighted the growing concern about the aging aircraft fleet and the serious issue of structural fatigue which can and did lead to catastrophic consequences in this crash.
