Athens Convention On Cruise Line Liability: Kreindler Counsel Chosen To Represent U.S. Plaintiffs In Revising Liability Regime For Cruise Ships

Paul S. Edelman, counsel to the firm and former long-time partner, has been appointed by the Department of State and the U.S. Coast Guard to be an advisor on discussions among maritime nations of a new liability regime for cruise ships. The meeting is sponsored by the International Maritime Organization to revise the Athens Convention on Cruise Line Liability. Mr. Edelman will be the only U.S. plaintiff's attorney appointed to represent U.S. victims' maritime rights. The meeting is to be held in London on April 26, 2006. A central issue at the meeting will be insurance coverage for terrorist attacks.
