Milton G. Sincoff

Of Counsel

Mr. Sincoff is a trial lawyer who has successfully represented victims of aviation crashes for over 30 years. He has obtained more aviation jury verdicts than probably any other or a handful of other plaintiffs' attorneys in the United States. Highly respected by aviation defense lawyers and insurance companies, he has also obtained substantial settlements for many hundreds of clients.

After graduating Harvard Law School and serving in the military, he joined Kreindler & Kreindler and continued there for over two decades. Mr. Sincoff then voluntarily resigned his partnership and became independent trial counsel to the firm.

Eight federal judges appointed Mr. Sincoff as lead, or co-lead or a member of plaintiffs' committees in major airline crashes (all successful):

  • lead counsel by District Judge Eugene H. Nickerson, Eastern District of New York, Spantax Airlines at Malaga, Spain;
  • lead trial counsel and co-chairman of discovery committee by Chief Judge Aubrey E. Robinson, Jr., Korean Air Lines in Sea of Japan, liability verdict for all plaintiffs against KAL, affirmed 932 F.2d 1475 (D.C. Cir.);
  • lead trial and liaison counsel by District Judge Henry Bramwell, Eastern District of New York, Eastern Airlines at Kennedy Airport, liability verdict for all plaintiffs against Eastern Airlines, affirmed 635 F.2d 67 (2d Cir.), and obtained the first damage verdict;
  • lead counsel by Chief Judge M. Joseph Blumenfeld, District of Connecticut, Allegheny Airlines at Tweed-New Haven Airport;
  • one of three co-lead trial and discovery counsel by Chief Judge Andrew A. Caffrey, District of Massachusetts, Delta Airlines in Boston;
  • member of the committee by District Judge Joyce Hens Green, District of Columbia, Air Florida in Washington, D.C.;
  • one of two aviation specialists with two local trial lawyers by District Judge Peter T. Fay, Southern District of Florida, Eastern Airlines in Florida Everglades; and
  • member of committee by District Judge Thomas A. Flannery, District of Columbia, Saudi Airlines in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The United States Supreme Court heard oral argument presented by Mr. Sincoff on behalf of all plaintiffs in the Korean Air Lines disaster. He has been admitted to practice in the courts of New York State and the District Courts and Circuit Court in New York. Mr. Sincoff was also received to practice in particular cases in the federal courts in federal courts in California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania, and several state courts.

Notable cases among many include:

  • USAir crash at LaGuardia, two jury verdicts (one for the largest amount of all the cases);
  • Pan Am Lockerbie disaster, two cases settled on eve of jury trials of damages (among the few highest recoveries);
  • American Eagle, North Carolina, settled without suit;
  • SAM Airlines, Colombia, settled during discovery;
